Development hearing
The city of Everett’s planning commission is holding a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. March 26 on the Riverfront development. The proposed plan could bring 1,250 new units of housing, a specialty grocery store and movie theater to the site. The hearing will take place at City Council chambers at 3002 Wetmore Ave.
Recycle home goods
Dispose of appliances, furniture and other unwanted items at an event hosted by the city of Snohomish, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 6, at the city’s public works yard, 1801 First St.
The event is open only to Snohomish residents and water customers — bring a driver’s license or utility bill. Accepted items can be found on the city’s website.

Open house
Multiple organizations in Edmonds are looking for volunteers at an open house from noon to 3 p.m. on April 6, at the Edmonds Historical Museum, 118 Fifth Ave. N.

Volunteer outside
The Green Everett Partnership plans a Wednesday morning work party at Howarth Park, 1127 Olympic Blvd. It is set for 9 a.m. to noon April 10. Activities include weeding and pruning to help native plants. RSVP requested.

Play strings? Come jam
A string instrument jam session is held at 6 p.m. every third Friday, at the Sisco Heights Community Club, 13527 99th Ave. NE, Arlington. Those wishing to participate are welcome.

Getting creative in Snohomish
The Creative Writing group at the Snohomish Senior Center is welcoming new participants. The group meets once a month from 2-4 p.m. on the third Monday of the month. Essays, memoirs, reminiscences, poetry, haiku. Listeners are always welcome and appreciated, too.
Serve in Arlington
The city of Arlington is seeking volunteers for boards and commissions, including parks and arts. Applications are available online or at City Hall in the administration office on the second floor at 238 N Olympic.

MEETINGS
The Everett School District Board of Directors will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at district headquarters, in Port Gardner Room B. Agenda items include discussion around the 2019-20 operating budget.
The Edmonds School District school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Educational Services Center, 20420 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.
The Lake Stevens Arts Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. Agenda items include approving field trips. The next meeting is a study session March 20.
