Washington State Ferries are now running on the spring sailing schedule, with expanded times and routes. It also means more people will be traveling by ferry. Plan ahead and be patient. The spring schedule is in place until June 22.

Help injured wildlife

PAWS Wildlife Center in Lynnwood seeks volunteers for a variety of roles. Help with wildlife care, keep the nature trail maintained, or hand-feed baby songbirds next spring, among many other tasks. Donate to book sale

The Friends of the Edmonds Library seeks donations to its ongoing book sale, including gently used books, CDs, videos, DVDs, sheet music, magazines and computer software. Sale proceeds benefit library programs and a scholarship fund. A drop box for donations is in the foyer of the library, at 650 Main St. Pick-up service is available for large donations.

Mental illness support through NAMI

The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Snohomish County offers local support groups, including for family and friends of those living with mental illness.

Lost a loved one to suicide?

A Survivors of Suicide Loss support group meets 6-8 p.m. fourth Thursdays at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW. The group is hosted by the SC Community Action for those who have lost someone from suicide.

Early stage memory loss group

Emotional, educational and social support is available for those who are in the early stages of memory loss. The Alzheimer’s Association provides a space to share experiences and learn about memory loss in a confidential environment. Registration is required for this group, which meets 10:30 a.m. to noon second Thursdays in Everett.

Driving safety class in Arlington

An AARP Smart Driver defensive driving class is offered 9 a.m.-1 p.m. the second Tuesday to Wednesday every other month at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Cost is $15 AARP members, $20 non-members. Sign-up required.
