Ribbon cutting on 35th
Snohomish County officials plan to celebrate the completion of a major upgrade to 35th Avenue Southeast during a ceremony planned from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Tambark Creek Park.
The address is 17217 35th Ave SE.
Crews recently finished an initial phase of work along approximately 2 miles, from 180th Street SE to Seattle Hill Road. It added bike lanes, curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the road. Speakers at Tuesday’s event are to include elected officials and the county public works director.

Talent show
All Aboard, a program and activities center for adults with special needs, is having a talent show at 6 p.m Wednesday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2913 W. Marine View Drive, Everett.
The show is free with donations encouraged.

Street fair
Visit the Arlington Street Fair starting at 10 a.m. July 12, 13 and 14, along North Olympic Avenue.
More than 200 vendors are scheduled to be there, along with food options and activities for children. Bands will be playing live music all weekend at Legion Memorial Park. Donations to the Arlington Food Bank are appreciated.

Romance writers workshop
The Evergreen Chapter of Romance Writers of America is having a master class by author Megan Chance in a workshop from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 29 at the Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St., Everett.
The speaker will give tools to dig deeply into the marrow of your story by synthesizing plot, research, and character development all while maintaining the tension that improves pacing in your book.
This workshop is open to all writers. Lunch is included. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
Cost is $25 for members; $50 non-members.

MEETING
Fireworks ban
Leaders from South County Fire plan to visit the Snohomish County Council during the regular meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday to discuss their petition to expand no-fireworks areas.
The fire authority is seeking to ban fireworks in unincorporated areas it serves near Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace and Brier. Fireworks are banned already in those cities.

Kla Ha Ya
The city of Snohomish will celebrate its annual Kla Ha Ya Days Festival July 17-21.
Festivities will include a talent show, carnival, circus, parade, beer garden, bingo, food, music, a farmer’s market, classic cars and motorcycles.
