Car toys on tour
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour will be rolling into Everett from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Walmart Supercenter, 11400 Highway 99.
The traveling show will have cars big and small, plus games for kids and prizes. Get a close look at a fleet of Hot Wheels life-size vehicles from the Hot Wheels garage.
The free event is one of 18 stops across the country, as Mattel searches for the next great custom hot rod to turn into next year’s featured Hot Wheels die-cast toy car of the year. The winner of Saturday’s event will advance to the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas later this year, where their life-size custom car will compete against all tour winners.
Grant writing workshops
Learn to write grants during a two-part workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 19, at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St.
Attendees will learn the basics of writing grants, along with character counts, budgets and attachments, and balancing stats with stories. This free course is taught by Debra Jensen, a local nonprofit consultant and grant writer. Space is limited, register beforehand.

Piano tunes
Everett Street Tunes ends Aug. 27 in downtown Everett. Artists decorate pianos that are then placed on the street for anyone to play. Vote online for your favorite piano.

Lynnwood health fair
Lynnwood plans to host its fourth annual health fair at the 44th block party Sept. 7.
For the the health-and-safety-themed event, the city plans to close 44th Avenue W between the fire and police stations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that Saturday.
Attendees have the chance to get an up-close look at fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles, Community Transit buses and public works equipment.
Visitors can bring up to three grocery bags of documents for free on-site shredding. Watch demonstrations by police K-9 and motorcycle officers, as well as demos about healthy living and public safety. Edmonds School District’s Nourishing Network food drive is accepting donations.
Other attractions include children’s activities and information about major construction projects in town.

Late buses for fair
Community Transit offers late-night buses from the Evergreen State Fairgrounds for those who attend and work at the fair. Buses will run for an hour after the fair gates close every night, even on Labor Day. There’s a bus stop near the West Gate entrance. Adults pay $2.50, those ages 6 to 18 pay $1.75, and reduced fares are $1.25 with a pass. Please bring exact change.
