MARYSVILLE — Two people suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital after crashing into a tree Tuesday night.

The man and woman were in a truck in the 1500 block of 140th Street NW, northwest of Marysville, the Marysville Fire District said. The truck hit a tree head-on, and the 64-year-old woman had to be extricated from the wreck. She had life-threatening injuries, and the 69-year-old driver had serious injuries. Both were taken to the hospital by Marysville Fire paramedics.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, but Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said detectives believe speed and alcohol may have contributed.
