MARYSVILLE — A dog died but four people escaped a house fire around midnight Tuesday.

One resident smelled smoke and saw flames in the garage of the south Marysville home in the 6700 block of 37th Place NE, the Marysville Fire District said.

Firefighters kept the severe damage to the garage, with an early estimate at $60,000 in damage.

All four adults escaped without injury. One dog did not survive, however.

The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal.
