ARLINGTON — A man was hospitalized after a confrontation with Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Sunday morning.

The deputies responded to a call for a suspicious person around 4:45 a.m. in the back yard of a home in the 17300 block of 126th Street Northeast. They saw a man running from the residence and caught up with him in the woods across the street when an altercation arose, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, called SMART. One deputy deployed his Taser.

They saw the 41-year-old man had a reportedly self-inflicted neck wound and called for medical aid. He had serious injuries and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for treatment.

Detectives believe he is the respondent in a domestic violence no-contact order at the residence and had slashed tires before deputies arrived.

SMART is investigating the use of force by the deputies.

The deputies were placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure while the case is investigated.
