LAKE STEVENS — A man tried hiding in stormwater pond pipes after an alleged burglary Monday.
Around 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to a burglary in which cash, firearms and tools were reportedly stolen in Lake Stevens. Deputies had a suspect in custody, but another suspect was hiding near 20th Street Southeast, Highway 204 and Sunnyside Boulevard after driving a truck down a hill to flee police before running away.
Officers found him hiding in pipes for a retention pond near the 100 block of 86th Drive Southeast. He allegedly refused to come out but had to be rescued — and taken into custody — after he became hypothermic.
Responders from Lake Stevens Fire, Lake Stevens Police, Everett Police, Marysville Police, Snohomish Police and Washington State Patrol assisted in the search.
