3 people escape house fire in Machias area near Snohomish

SNOHOMISH — Three people were displaced but escaped serious injuries after a fire destroyed their Machias-area home Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of Virginia Street near the trailhead of the Centennial Trail. Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue firefighters found flames coming through the roof and kept it from spreading. The three family members got out safely and were being helped by the American Red Cross.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the fire.
