MARYSVILLE — A wayward calf spurred authorities on Wednesday to briefly corral northbound traffic on I-5 near Marysville.

Around 3:30 p.m., northbound traffic was blocked off by 156th Street NE following reports that a young calf was stuck in the median, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

A state Fish and Wildlife “cowboy” on horseback came to the rescue and successfully “wrangled” the calf to safety, state troopers wrote on Twitter. No bovines or humans were harmed in the operation.

The lost calf had been on the loose in the Marysville area for nearly two days, Trooper Jacob Kennett said.

Traffic was moo-ving again around 4:15 p.m.
