Silvertips top Americans to start season with 2 straight wins

EVERETT — Ben Hemmerling gave Everett the lead for good with a goal at the end of the second period, and the Silvertips hung on for a 4-2 win over the Tri-City Americans for their second victory in two games to start the season.
After Jake Sloan opened the scoring with a goal just minutes into the game for Tri-City, Ty Gibson potted a power-play goal to pull Everett even at 1-1.
The Silvertips took the lead in early inthe second period on a goal from Jesse Heslop, but this time the Americans answered with a goal from Lukas Dragicevic just minutes later.
Hemmerling’s goal gave the Silvertips the lead back and Austin Roest added an insurance tally in the third period.
Braden Holt stopped 23 of 25 shots for Everett (2-0-0-0).
Tomas Suchanek saved 42 of 46 shots for Tri-City (1-2-0-0).
