Fire damages Everett apartments, displaces 10

EVERETT — An apartment fire Monday night in Everett left no injuries but caused extensive building damage, according to the Everett Fire Department.
Shortly after midnight, dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a fire at the Marie Anne Terrace apartment buildings in the 1000 block of Ttereve Drive. When firefighters arrived, fire was already venting out of a second-floor window, according to the department.
The flames were under control in 20 minutes, but two apartments sustained heavy damage. Several others had smoke and water damage.
Four families, a total of 10 people, were displaced by the fire. The cause was unknown.
A fire investigator discovered the smoke alarms in the apartment were not working.
The Everett Fire Department urged the community to ensure that they have working alarms.
“Smoke alarms save lives,” Assistant Fire Marshal William Armstrong said.
