The Athlete of the Week nominees for March 23-29. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Wednesday’s paper.

Otto Nicholson | Glacier Peak boys soccer

The senior netted a hat trick in a 4-3 win over Meadowdale on March 20. Nicholson won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for March 16-22 by claiming 696 (36.40%) of the 1,912 votes.

This week’s nominees

Rubi Lopez | Stanwood softball

In two Saturday games, Lopez proved to be a menace on the bases, stealing seven times, including five against Burlington-Edison. Lopez went 5-for-8 with a triple and three RBI on the day.

Chanyoung Park | Jackson girls golf

Park shot a 3-under-par 69 to win the 15-school Whidbey Shootout March 27 at Whidbey Golf Club by nine strokes.

Morgan Udy | Glacier Peak softball

The junior helped the Grizzles go 5-0 last week by hitting .632 (12-for-19) with nine RBI, three doubles and a home run.

T’Andre Waverly | Kamiak boys track

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior sprinter and Oregon State football commit won the 100- and 200-meter sprints and anchored his team’s 400-meter relay as the Knights won the boys title.
