EVERETT — Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County celebrated the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Bill Tsoukalas after 37 years with the organization and working with youth and families across the region.

On July 22, friends, family, current and former board members, long-time BGCSC supporters and elected officials came together at the Everett Gold & Country Club to honor Tsoukalas, a press release said.

In his honor, the soon-to-be-built Edmonds Boys & Girls Club will be named the Bill Tsoukalas Clubhouse, the release said. Also, BGCSC launched the Bill Tsoukalas Endowment Fund, dedicated to “supporting future generations of youth.”

“Bill’s legacy is one of service, compassion, and impact,” said Walter Hock, chair of the BGCSC board of directors, in the release. “He has strengthened every facet of the organization and built a team fully capable of carrying the mission forward.”

Marci Volmer was promoted from Chief Operating Officer to President and CEO. She began her involvement with BGCSC as a club parent, the release said. Working her way up the ladder, she eventually oversaw day-to-day operations, strategic expansion and community engagement initiatives across the county.

DJ Lockwood is moving into the COO role, previously serving as director at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club.

“Marci and DJ are both passionate leaders who embody the values of the Boys & Girls Clubs,” Tsoukalas said in the release. “They understand the needs of our youth and communities because they’ve lived it — from the front lines to the boardroom.”
