EVERETT — A Snohomish County government attorney with 30 years of experience has been named the county’s hearing examiner.

The County Council on Wednesday approved Gordon Sivley’s appointment 3-0.

Sivley joined the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in 1982 and has worked most of the time since then as a senior civil deputy prosecuting attorney.

He will replace Millie Judge, who was elected to the Superior Court bench earlier this year. Sivley’s one-year term is to begin Jan. 1, with a salary of $140,000 per year.

The county hearing examiner’s job involves settling land-use cases and presiding over other quasi-judicial hearings, including code-enforcement appeals.
