The launch customer for Boeing Co.’s Dreamliner jet temporarily grounded five 787s for repairs.
All Nippon Airways halted flights on the five 787s in response to a problem identified last week by engine-maker Rolls-Royce with the engine gearbox. Two of the five airplanes have been fixed and returned to service, ANA said on Monday.
Rolls identified a corrosion problem with the Trent 1000 engine gearbox. As a result, the carrier has swapped out seven engines on five 787s.
