The union that represents Boeing Co. engineers and technical workers will vote next week on union leadership positions.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, or SPEEA, has three positions up for grabs on its executive board including its president, treasurer and secretary.
SPEEA’s current president, Tom McCarty, is running for re-election against Joel Funfar, who is SPEEA council chairman. Regardless of who wins, both will serve on SPEEA’s negotiation teams for contract talks with Boeing for workers in the Puget Sound region this year.
Jimmie Mathis, SPEEA’s treasurer, is running for the slot of secretary against Franco Pacheco, who has been with the union since 2005. Bob Wilkerson and Michael Hochberg are running for the role of SPEEA treasurer.
The new board members will serve two-year terms beginning March 28. Ballots are due to SPEEA by noon this Wednesday.
