There is $700 million in unclaimed property held by the state Department of Revenue. To see if your name in on the property list, go to http://claimyourcash.org. Included on the list is property turned over to the state by businesses, usually after they’ve had no contact with the owner for three years.
The state Department of Revenue reports that Washington is 26th highest nationally in a list of state and local taxes as a percentage of personal income and 32nd highest in property taxes, according to recently released federal data. Washingtonians paid $109.25 in state and local taxes per $1,000 of personal income, compared with a national average of $113.32. Of that $29.25 went to property taxes, compared with a national average of $34.04.

Bekins Northwest of Mountlake Terrace has been honored with a service award from Atlas Van Lines after a review of its safety and claims records and of post-move surveys from customers.
The Edmonds Community College Center for Families was included in the governor’s Employer Awards Program earlier this month. It was selected in the public employer, small category among companies and organizations that excel in hiring people with disabilities.
