The Boeing Co. is poised to meet its 2010 aircraft delivery goal after handing over 124 jets in the third quarter.

That’s up from 114 deliveries the previous quarter and 113 in the same quarter in 2009. Boeing has delivered 346 jets so far this year. The company’s third quarter deliveries included 21 Everett-built 777 aircraft, three 767s and 100 single-aisle 737s.

Boeing has said it will deliver between 460 and 465 aircraft in 2010. It delivered 481 airplanes in 2009 but slowed production this year on jet lines including the 777 in the face of the global recession. However, air traffic and jet orders have picked up in 2010, leading Boeing to announce plans to speed up production.

Airbus said earlier this week that it has delivered 380 jets through the third quarter. Like Boeing, deliveries of single-aisle jet make up the bulk of Airbus deliveries with 300 of its A320s delivered through Sept. 30.

Also on Thursday, Boeing logged in 104 new jet orders for the week. Through Oct. 5, Boeing has won 392 net orders.

The new orders recorded this week included Air Lease Corp.’s for 54 single-aisle 737s, which was finalized Monday; an order for 10 737s from China’s Xiamen Airlines; and orders for 40 737s from undisclosed customers.

Boeing leads Airbus in orders through the end of the third quarter. Airbus has 379 gross orders, 328 net orders through the end of the third quarter.

Boeing’s shares closed at $68.46, down 12 cents Thursday. The company will report its complete third-quarter results on Oct. 20.
