Delta confirms Boeing order, defers 787s until 2020

Delta Air Lines confirmed Monday that it will take delivery of 18 Boeing Co. 787 jets.
The order has been in limbo since the carrier’s merger with Northwest Airlines.
However, Delta pushed out delivery of the 787s until 2020 at the earliest.
Northwest originally had requested the Dreamliners for delivery between 2008 and 2010. Boeing is more than two years behind schedule in delivering its Dreamliner. The jet maker plans to hand over the first 787 early next year.
Delta is now schedule to receive all 18 787s between 2020 and 2022, the carriers said in a regulatory filing Monday.
