DAY 2 NOTES

– There was one switch between the veteran and rookie groups today. Sixteen-year-old forward Jordyn Boyd joined the veterans this morning, while fellow 16-year-old forward Jari Erricson took Boyd’s place with the rookies. Both players are already signed, so I suspect this move was planned in advance.

– For the second straight day newcomers Landon Ferraro and Josh Birkholz skated together during the morning veteran practice. It seems the Tips like the way their speed complements one another. Former Kid Line compatriots Kellan Tochkin and Tyler Maxwell, who didn’t skate together Thursday, were back together Friday, and along with Manraj Hayer they showed some of the old magic.

– Among the rookies there were two pairs of forwards who stood out today. Erricson was slotted onto a line alongside 16-year-old list player Michael McNicholas, and those two put up a ton of points in their two games. Fifteen-year-old Geordie Maguire had a big day, and he and diminutive 16-year-old Kohl Bauml worked well in tandem. We also had our first two players stand out for their physical play as 15-year-old invitees JJ Huerena and Nathan Wisniewski both dished out multiple big hits, and 15-year-old goalie invitee Jesse Jenks also looked solid.
