Kent Simpson selected in second round by Chicago

The second day of the NHL draft is underway, and the Silvertips have their first player selected. Goaltender Kent Simpson sneaks into the second round, being selected 58th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. He was the fourth goalie and 13th WHLer taken in the draft.

This is the third straight year Chicago has drafted an Everett player. The Blackhawks took Kyle Beach in the first round in 2008 and Byron Froese in the fourth round last year.
