SEATTLE — Some bears looking for food after winter hibernation are ending up in the wrong places.
A bear struck and killed Monday night on Interstate 5 in Everett is believed to be the same cub seen earlier Monday in a nearby greenbelt.
Meanwhile, police responded this morning to reports of a bear near Hunt Middle School in Tacoma.
Spokeswoman Gretchen Aguirre said the bear apparently moved out of a greenbelt about 5 a.m. She said state Fish and Wildlife agents tried to track it with a dog. But the bear got away and the search was called off about 7:30 a.m.
