Ryan Murray short-listed

Everett defenseman Ryan Murray has been summoned by Hockey Canada again, receiving an invite to Canada’s selection camp for the U-18 Ivan Hlinka tournament.

Murray is one of 38 skaters (14 defensemen) invited to the camp, which takes place July 31-Aug. 3 in Calgary. From that camp Canada will select its team for the Hlinka tournament, which serves as the U-18 World Cup. It takes place Aug. 10-14 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Murray’s selection was a mere formality, considering he was the only 1993-born player to represent Canada at this year’s U-18 world championships. The 1992-born players from that world championships roster are no longer eligible at the U-18 level, so Murray would seem to be a lock for the Hlinka team.

With Silvertips training camp opening in late August, it’s shaping up to be a busy late summer for Murray.
