Apply: Leadership Challenge Program

Leadership Snohomish County is accepting applications for the Leadership Challenge Program for Young Adults.

The program is designed for adults, age 21 to 27, who live or work in Snohomish County and want to develop their abilities as leaders.

Participants will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. once a month for six months. They will spend 50 to 60 hours in a leadership project for a nonprofit organization.

As part of the educational experience, there will be a four-hour community board training to learn how to effectively serve on boards.

Applications will be accepted through July 31. The program begins Oct. 1.

Celebrate: 100 years of Father’s Day

This year, the YMCA will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Father’s Day.

In celebration of Father’s Day, Everett and Monroe YMCA members can bring their dads to work out for free at the Everett Family YMCA or the Monroe/Sky Valley Family YMCA on Saturday and Sunday.

The Everett Family YMCA will also hold a Father’s Day Date Night from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Buy: Oak Harbor Lions Club cherries

The Oak Harbor Lions Club will sell Wenatchee-grown, sun-ripened, Bing and Rainier cherries, beginning June 29, in the Rite-Aid parking lot at 31645 Highway 20 in Oak Harbor.

The sale will continue daily until the cherries are sold out.

All proceeds support community projects including eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy, scholarships, Help House, Special Olympics and other local programs.

Play: Basketball 3-on-3 tournament

A three-on-three basketball tournament is planned June 26-27 on the outdoor courts behind City Hall in Granite Falls.

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on June 26 and is open to fourth- through 12th-graders, college students and people over 35.

Teams must pay $75 to register and are limited to five people.

Trophies will be awarded for first and second place teams. All participants receive T-shirts.

The deadline to register is Wednesday.

Play: Summer cribbage marathon

A summer cribbage marathon will begin at 1 p.m. on July 17 at the Snohomish Senior Center.

The marathon is open to all ages and includes cash prizes of $50 for first place, $30 for second place and $20 for third place.

First prize will also receive a hand-carved cribbage board.

The marathon consists of seven games per player and will end at 4:30 p.m.

Registration is $15 at the front desk of the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. in Snohomish.
