Six-year sentence for human trafficking

SEATTLE — An Everett man was sentenced to more than six years in federal prison Friday for human trafficking.

Marquin Thompson, 28, who also lived in San Diego, Calif., pleaded guilty in January in U.S. District Court in Seattle to forcing a young woman into prostitution and bringing her across state lines.

The case was investigated by the Everett Police Department and the FBI.

From September 2007 to January 2008, Thompson forced the woman to work for him along the Pacific Highway South in south King County, records show.

He controlled the woman with threats and violence.

In October 2007, Thompson took the woman to Nevada and Arizona, where he continued to coerce her, prosecutors said.

The young woman has since been reunited with her family.

Thompson has previous convictions for vice crimes.
