Camano Island: Government primer
A short course on Island County government and the county’s budget is to be presented by Island County Commissioner Angie Homola at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.
Homola plans to talk about county departments, employee unions, property tax divisions and county programs.

Everett: Annual car show Sunday, Monday
The annual Cruzin’ to Colby car show is set for Sunday and Monday in downtown Everett.
Sunday’s registration for the cruise opens at 10 a.m. at Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St. Staging along Colby Avenue starts at 1 p.m. Monday’s show and shine is planned for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will be on the corner of Hewitt and Colby avenues. The Seattle Rod-tiques, a nonprofit car club, work year-round to put on the family event. The proceeds go to local charities.
Lake Stevens: Health and safety fair coming
A Health and Safety Fair is planned June 12 in Lake Stevens. The free event, hosted by the Lake Stevens Police Department and Snohomish County Fire District 8, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albertsons parking lot, 303 91st Avenue NE. Health screenings and 24 information booths are planned.

Lynnwood: Public hearing on vehicle fee
Lynnwood’s City Council will hold a public hearing at 7 tonight on a proposal to create a $20 vehicle registration fee that could bring $420,000 a year to the city. The proposal, part of something called a Transportation Benefit District, would allow the council to OK the $20 fee.
Monroe: Celebrate Indian culture
The Skykomish Valley Indian Education program will host its sixth annual Traditional Powwow on Saturday at Monroe High School.
Opening ceremonies at the public event begin at 4 p.m., with festivities planned through 10 p.m. During the celebration, visitors can watch traditional dance, shop at arts and crafts vendors and eat a free dinner of soup and fry bread.
The event is at the Monroe High School commons, 17001 Tester Road, Monroe.
