BYOB for the kid set

Say kids, have you heard mommy and daddy talk about going to a BYOB party?

Did you wonder what that meant?

We have the answer today. For those going to Easter egg hunts, it’s usually BYOB.

That means Bring Your Own Basket, and, in this weather, boots.

Children’s book author signs books today: Sharon Standish of Marysville, who wrote a children’s book called “Ganly Delivers Parcel and Post, Bountiful Blessings Township,” is scheduled to sign copies from noon to 3 p.m. today at Tree of Life Christian Outlet at Seattle Premium Outlet in Marysville.

We wrote a column headlined “Despite illness, Marysville writer finds blessings in writing” on Aug. 19, 2009.

Standish said she wrote and illustrated the book during challenging days. She has Parkinson’s disease, dystonia disease, severe sleep apnea and cancer and has survived a heart attack.

Ganly the postman lives in Bountiful Blessings Township. He is a hedgehog.

Donate for troops: Five Everett Community College students are scheduled to collect donations for care packages for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Everett Mall.

Donors can purchase a $10 or $20 care package. Shipping and packaging is included with the donation, and students will send the care packages.

The students taking Entrepreneurship 205 are Barbara Copeland, Austin Revenig, Elizabeth Kuljis and Justin Kroeger. For more information, call 425-737-4486.
