EVERETT — Three people were rescued from a sinking pleasure boat Friday in the Port Gardner area.
The boaters used a VHF radio to call for help around 11 a.m. when water started to swamp the 26-foot craft, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Colin White said.
A U.S. Navy crew helped rescue the trio and brought them safely to shore.
A Coast Guard cutter and an Everett police boat also responded and tried to pump out the sinking vessel, White said.
The water was coming in too fast and the boat could not be saved, he said. It will be up to the boat owner to recover it from the bottom of the bay.
