Apply: Driftwood Players’ scholarship

The Edmonds Driftwood Players, a regional nonprofit theater performance company, plans to award scholarships to high school seniors who graduate in June and live in or attend school in a school district in south Snohomish or northwest King counties.

Winners will be selected by an evaluation of their application and a personal interview.

Applications must be postmarked by April 30 to Silas Lindenstein, Chair Driftwood Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 385, Edmonds, WA 98020.

Go: Breakfast with EvCC Foundation

The Everett Community College Foundation plans to host a community breakfast with author and veteran Seattle newscaster Tony Ventrella at 7:30 a.m. April 27 to raise money to support student scholarships and college programs.

The breakfast is at Everett Community College’s Parks Student Union Building. There is no charge for the breakfast but those who wish to attend need to RSVP by April 16 with Sharon Johnson at 425-388-9948.

The breakfast is part of the Everett Community College Foundation’s efforts to increase the number of student scholarships, emergency loans and grants. The foundation is also working to seek out equipment and support to ensure students have the technology they need in the classroom.

Get: Free health screenings offered

Oak Harbor Lions Club sponsors free health screenings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 and 24 at the Ace Hardware parking lot, 150 SE Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor.

Screening for blood pressure, glaucoma, diabetes, sight and hearing will be available in the Lions mobile health screening unit. No appointments are needed.

The screening unit is staffed by health professionals and Oak Harbor Lions Club members and provided by the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing.

Donate: Help EvCC low-income students

Everett Community College’s Student Activities Office is collecting school supplies, toiletries and non-perishable food for students in need through April 30.

Donations can be dropped off at Everett Community College’s Student Activities Office at the college’s Parks Student Union, Room 209. The donations will be given to the college’s Diversity and Equity Center to distribute to low-income students.

The Student Activities Office has a list of suggested items; for additional ideas, call 425-388-9561.
