Donate food
The Machinists union at Boeing plans a food drive this month to benefit the Puget Sound Labor Agency’s efforts to help feed unemployed workers and their families.
People can donate cash or nonperishable food at any union hall operated by the International Association of Machinists District 751, including the Everett Union Hall at 8729 Airport Road.
During the April food drive, donations will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation, a nonprofit group dedicated to wiping out hunger.
Collected goods will go to the Puget Sound Labor Agency food bank, which provides food to unemployed workers.
District 751’s Women’s Committee is spearheading the drive. Committee members say they’re particularly in need of canned food, whole-wheat pasta, oatmeal, baby food and baby formula.
Learn about financial planning: Folks who attend the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Community Outreach Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday will have a chance to learn about financial planning, starting their own business and buying a home.
The free event is planned at Everett Community College’s Whitehorse Hall, 2000 Tower St. in Everett.
Ten workshops will be offered at the fair, which also includes a panel discussion, exhibitors and keynote speaker Nate Miles with Lilly, a pharmaceutical company.
The fair is sponsored by the NAACP’s Snohomish County branch and EvCC’s Diversity and Equity Center. For more information, call Bill Reed at 425-388-9249 or e-mail breed@everettcc.edu.
