Harlem Globetrotters magic comes to Everett

Just a sampling of their nicknames, “Dizzy” Grant, “Hot Shot” Branch and “Flight Time” Lang, offers a hint that the Harlem Globetrotters will delight their Northwest fans with high-flying, crazy-spinning basketball maneuvers.
The 29 players will provide a night of all-ages fun at 7 p.m. Saturday at Everett’s Comcast Arena. It’s part of the team’s 84th season of hardwood magic.
“Everyone who comes to the show will see some high-flying dunks and great ball handling,” Derick “Dizzy” Grant said in a phone interview from Bellevue.
For the first time, the players will use a camouflage ball in parts of their North American shows.
“We used it when we were over there, and then brought it back with us,” Grant said of the team’s November and December visit to entertain troops in Kuwait, Bahrain, Djibouti, Qatar and Iraq.
“(Playing there) was definitely a lot of fun,” he said. “It’s our way to thank the troops for what they do.”
The team also will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday at KeyArena, 305 Harrison St., Seattle.
