Lawmakers to Boeing: Commit to Washington or else …

Some lawmakers in Olympia are looking for a little love and commitment from Snohomish County’s largest employer: the Boeing Co.
Our politics reporter, Jerry Cornfield, had this blog post yesterday about HB 2833.
The proposed legislation would require aerospace companies, like Boeing, that benefit from state tax incentives to “periodically reaffirm their commitment to the economic well-being of Washington” or potentially lose those tax breaks.
As many Herald readers remember, Washington state offered $3.2 billion in incentives to land the Boeing Co.’s original 787 assembly line. But last year, Boeing decided to locate its second 787 line in South Carolina.
Lawmakers have much to consider about the future of Boeing, aerospace and Washington state.
