MONROE — Fire caused around $150,000 damage late Wednesday to a Monroe home, displacing a family of five and sending one person to the hospital with burn injuries.

The blaze was reported around 11 p.m. in the 17000 block of Highway 203, Monroe Fire District spokeswoman Richelle Risdon said.

Investigators believe a man was working on a van in a detached garage when gasoline fumes caught fire, sparking the fire, she said.

The fire spread to the home.

One person was taken to the hospital with burns, she said. Details on who was injured weren’t immediately available.

The fire affected traffic on the highway for several hours.
