Pilot escapes without injuries after crash at Arlington airport

ARLINGTON – A small experimental aircraft caught fire earlier this evening after crashing by the runway at the Arlington airport.

One person who was on board walked away with no injuries, Arlington spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. Crews were mopping up about 6 p.m.

The fire sparked after the crash. Firefighters knocked down the flames quickly, she said. The fire extinguisher on board didn’t work.
