MARYSVILLE – Fire investigators are calling a blaze that damaged a house under construction this morning suspicious.
Firefighters were summoned about 7 a.m. Crews found light smoke coming from the home, located in the 5800 block of 116th Street NE. The flames coming from under the house were quickly extinguished, Marysville Fire spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire was set intentionally, Thorstenson said. There is no indication the fire was the work of an environmental extremist group, said Gary Bontrager, an investigator with the fire marshal’s office.
The fire likely was set by juveniles, he added. Investigators found some vandalism to another nearby house, Bontrager said.
The damage was estimated at $10,000. No one was injured.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to the county fire marshal at 425-388-3557.
