Old flags retired

Boy Scout Troop 49 and Cub Scout Pack 331 retired tattered flags at a Flag Day ceremony in Mountlake Terrace on Sunday. They folded each flag, then unfurled it for draping over a fire, said George Janecke, chaplain of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040.

Hearing loss group meets and eats: The Hearing Loss Association of Snohomish County meets Saturday.

There will be pizza and a potluck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Providence Regional Medical Center, 913 Pacific Ave., Everett, in the Monte Cristo Room.

Make police plans in Mill Creek: Folks in Mill Creek can help the city’s police department develop a strategic plan that will chart the department’s course through 2030.

Two presentations are planned for 6 and 7:30 tonight, and two more are scheduled for 6 and 7:30 p.m. June 24.

The events will be at City Hall, 15728 Main St. Participants will be asked to rate current customer service practices, professionalism and responsiveness, enforcement priorities and overall safety concerns of the community.

The plan will help determine future staffing levels, as well as community programs and crime-prevention programs.
