Free: Spay and neuter services

Appointments to spay or neuter cats and dogs that are eight weeks and older will be scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays at the Humane Society.

This service is free for those with low incomes. Transportation may be available for the disabled.

Nominate: Annual volunteer awards

The United Way every year recognizes companies, organizations and individuals that are helping to create opportunities for a better life for all with the Spirit of Snohomish County Awards.

The awards are presented to those who advance the common good, while demonstrating a broad and deep commitment to the community.

Members of the public can nominate people for an adult, youth or company award. The nominees must be actively volunteering, creating a culture of community involvement and inspiring others to serve.

Nominations for the Reeves/Sievers Founders Award for a lifetime of service are also being sought.

Nomination forms may be found at uwsc.org. The deadline to submit a nomination is June 26. They can be faxed to:

Winners will be honored at the Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast Sept. 10 at the Tulalip Resort Casino.

Funding: Apply to Zonta Club

The Zonta Club of Everett is accepting applications from agencies for annual grants.

Zonta International is a worldwide organization whose main goal is to improve the status of women worldwide through education and health. In an effort to achieve that goal the Zonta Club of Everett allocates grants to nonprofit organizations whose programs meet Zonta’s mission.

The deadline for submitting applications is July 1.

Volunteers: Help with hospice care

A free session to review volunteer opportunities at Providence Hospice and Home Care will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. July 15 in downtown Everett.

Those who feel that volunteering might be a good fit for them can register for the session by calling, 425-261-4815.
