MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Secondary Campus is $40,000 closer to having its own ball field. People attending a fundraising auction on April 11 dug deep. They bid on trips, hotel stays and artwork.
“We were very happy,” said organizer Lana Magnan. “We’ve got a good start on the field.”
Currently there are no sports fields at the secondary campus, which houses Heritage High School, 10th Street School, and Arts &Technology High School.
Parents want to build a place for kids to play sports in a field overrun with grass and wildflowers in front of the school.
The project could cost up to $1.5 million, Magnan said.
Parents canvassed local businesses for donations for the auction, which was held at the Tulalip Resort Casino.
Among the most popular items were original artwork by Tulalip artists, a Dine Around Tulalip Resort package, a wine cellar, and a VIP auction table that included upgraded menus and desserts.
Secondary Campus supporters plan to apply for several grants to raise more money for the fields.
