Arlington: Fundraiser has Hawaiian theme
The annual fundraising event for Village Community Services is scheduled for tonight and features a Hawaiian theme.
The Taste of Decadence is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smokey Point Community Church, 17721 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Desserts and appetizers will be served, and entertainment will be by the Voices of the Village band.
Donations to the event help Snohomish County adults with disabilities achieve their potential at work, at home and in the community, organizers said.
Dress is casual or tropical.

Camano Island: Book sale for library
Camano Island Library Friends offers a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Windermere parking lot near the library at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and E. Camano Drive.
Profits from the sale will go to help keep the pilot project library on the island.

Camano Island: Power outage planned
An eight-hour power outage from midnight Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday is scheduled for all of Camano Island. The Snohomish County Public Utility District plans to move transmission lines as part of the Department of Transportation construction project on Highway 532.
Mabana and Madrona fire station personnel plan to have emergency generator power and be open for emergency shelter use. Drivers are reminded to think of each intersection as a four-way stop during the power outage.

Marysville: Salary panel has openings
The city of Marysville has three vacancies on its salary commission, an independent seven-member board that conducts annual reviews of compensation for the mayor and City Council members.
The successful nominees will succeed Jim Scharf, Kelly Wright and Gary Edmundson, who all were members of the original salary commission when it was created in 2003. Each has served the maximum of two three-year terms allowed by city law.
The salary commission meets annually between January and March. Appointees must live in Marysville. Anyone interested may submit a letter of interest to assistant administrative services director Tracy Jeffries at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270. Tulalip: Horse rescue plans memorial
A memorial fundraising event celebrating the life of Vel Moore is 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Equine Rescue Association, 2415 116th St. NE on the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
Moore founded the horse rescue operation in 1997. She died of cancer May 28 at the age of 77.
Pony rides for $5, raffles, a tack sale and refreshments are planned. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit horse rescue.
