LYNNWOOD — A passerby Saturday morning alerted firefighters to a house fire that caused $50,000 in damage.
Crews were called to a single-story house in the 15200 block of 35th Avenue W. about 7:45 a.m., Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
No one lived in the house full-time. Two men were taking turns staying there as caretakers while the owner was waiting for the house to sell, Hynes said.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but damage from the blaze left the house uninhabitable, Hynes said. The homeowner has insurance.
Investigators determined the fire was most likely started by an extension cord connected to a space heater, Hynes said.
