MONROE — A Seattle woman died Friday when a tree fell on her van outside of Monroe.
The woman, 46, died about 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of 260th Avenue SE and Ben Howard Road, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Her passenger, a Seattle man, 51, was taken to Valley General Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Strong winds were blowing about the same time as the accident, Hover said.
The accident is under investigation by the sheriff’s Collision Investigation Unit.
Another tree fell around 4 p.m. Friday on Locust Road near Lynnwood, taking power lines with it.
About 75 customers were expected to be without power for up six hours Friday evening, said Mike Thorne of the Snohomish County Public Utility District.
The gusty winds that blew through Snohomish County on Friday were expected to die down early today, National Weather Service meteorologist Johnny Burg said.
Breezy weather and chilly rain showers are likely for the weekend, Burg said.
