Everett: Transit fair for the disabled
The Snohomish County Transition Council will host its annual Transition Resource Fair for individuals with disabilities from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cascade High School cafeteria, 801 E. Casino Road.
The event is for individuals with disabilities age 14 and older and anyone else who is interested.
Information will be available on transportation options, subsidized and affordable housing, guardianship, Social Security, advocacy, leadership, transition strategies, assistive technology, recreational opportunities, employment agencies, and medical assistance programs.

Lynnwood: Swamp Creek public forums
A series of public forums on the water quality of streams in the Swamp Creek watershed are planned for this week and next.
The first meeting is 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lake Stickney Community Club, 1428 S. Lake Stickney Drive. The second is 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2609 Larch Way, Lynnwood.
The third meeting is 7 to 8 p.m. April 2 at the Northshore Utility District, 6830 NE 185th St., Kenmore.
The Adopt-a-Stream Foundation is sponsoring the forums to introduce the public to its stream-monitoring program.

Marysville: CERT class still has room
Marysville, Arlington and Lake Stevens fire departments are teaming up to offer a Community Emergency Response Team class beginning Friday.
Participants learn how to help communities in response to emergencies and disasters.
The course runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays for seven weeks at Marysville Fire Station 62, 10701 Shoultes Road. Registration ends today. Cost is $20.

Monroe: Health screenings available
Get a preventative health screening by the Life Line organization 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Monroe-Sky Valley Family YMCA gymnasium. Life Line conducts screening for many medical conditions, including stroke, heart rhythm and osteoporosis.
The screenings cost $60 and up, depending on the test. It’s open to the public, but appointments must be made in advance by calling 800-324-1851.
Mountlake Terrace: Concert raises $2,000
A jazz concert and dessert auction organized by Mountlake Terrace High School senior Nick Deller raised more than $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The nonprofit organization grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Around 50 people attended the event Saturday. Deller organized it as part of his senior project, a graduation requirement.
Snohomish: Grant to aid wastewater system
The city was awarded a $500,000 federal grant for its wastewater system upgrade. The money was included in a federal appropriations bill. The city hasn’t decided yet if it will upgrade its system or run a pipeline to Everett and buy in to its system. The city has now received about $7 million in state and federal grants for projects, including a system that would take care of storm overflow and the treatment plant. The city’s treatment plant has been out of compliance with state regulations since 1999.

Sultan: Adopt-A-Street volunteers needed
Coordinators of the Adopt-a-Street program in Sultan want a few good volunteers.
A new program sends volunteers one Saturday a month through the city to pick up litter in city neighborhoods and parks. Volunteers may have a street sign that identifies themselves, a family or business. Some people are dedicating their efforts in memory of friends or family.
