MARYSVILLE — Washington State Patrol troopers working with local police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office stopped nearly 200 vehicles during a weekend of extra patrols, part of the state’s X-52 safer driving campaign.
Drivers last weekend were stopped for investigation of drunken, aggressive and negligent driving, trooper Keith Leary said.
Nearly 35 people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, 29 people got aggressive-driving tickets, and almost 80 speeding tickets were written.
The X-52 program is designed to have extra patrols every week statewide in an effort to curb illegal driving habits, officials said.
