Library, historical society win award

The League of Snohomish County Heritage Organizations recently gave its annual Malstrom Award to a project run by the Stanwood and Camano branches of Sno-Isle Libraries and the Stanwood Area Historical Society.

The library and historical society set the stage for an area-wide reading of the Thomas Mullen novel, “The Last Town on Earth.”

The fictional story includes historical material such as logging in the area, utopian communities, company towns, local labor strikes, women’s suffrage, the Spanish flu epidemic and World War I.
