Briefs: EdCC selects new student trustee

The Edmonds Community College Board of Trustees has selected its fourth student trustee. Student Lia Andrews, 23, was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to serve from July through June 2017. Andrews’ position on the board will have a direct impact on students, as the student trustee is one of only six voting members of the board.
UW Bothell placed on ‘Best Bang for the Buck’ list
Washington Monthly has ranked the University of Washington Bothell at No. 22 on its 2016 Best Bang for the Buck list of top 100 western region colleges. The list rates colleges based on their value-added or colleges that help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. About half of UW Bothell students are said to graduate with no debt.
EvergreenHealth adds new VP-chief financial officer
EvergreenHealth has named Tina Mycroft as the new senior vice president and chief financial officer for the Kirkland-based health system. Mycroft was selected after a national search, and replaces Chrissy Yamada, who retired in August. Mycroft has more than 20 years of leadership and financial management experience in both the acute care hospital and large medical group settings. EvergreenHealth runs EvergreenHealth Monroe, the hospital in that community.
Mount Vernon’s Hospice of the Northwest named to ‘Best Places to Work’ list
Mount Vernon-based Hospice of the Northwest has been named to the top 100 list of Best Places to Work in Health Care by the health care data and research firm Modern Healthcare. The exact numerical ranking will be announced in October. Hospice of the Northwest has 75 staff members that serve more than 130 patients in Skagit, Island, San Juan and Snohomish counties.
