Mountlake Terrace: More parking coming
Community Transit is set to start building a new $15.3 million four-story parking garage at the Mountlake Terrace park-and-ride.
Construction is scheduled to start Dec. 15 and involves closing the current park-and-ride until work finishes and the new Mountlake Terrace Transit Center opens in early 2009, said Tom Pearce, a spokesman for Community Transit.
Also starting Dec. 15, temporary parking for about 390 cars is being made available between the blocks of 53rd Avenue W. and 58th Avenue W. and 228th Street SW and 236th Street SW.
All bus routes that serve the park-and-ride will continue to operate, Pearce said. Instead of going into the park-and-ride, they will pick up and drop off passengers at an interim stop.
Routes 408, 414, 477, 810, 851 and 871 will stop in the 23200 block of 56th Avenue W. The stop will include bus shelters, bike lockers and bike racks.
