New Kerala, the online newspaper based in southwest India, reports http://www.newkerala.com/news2.php?action=fullnews&id=46043 that Boeing and the Indian government are talking about a deal to provide eight P-8A Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft to the Indian navy.
The P-8, of course, is the 737-based sub-hunter that Boeing is developing down in Renton for the U.S. Navy. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is the first proposed sale to a foreign government. (At least it’s the first one I’ve heard about, but I’ll admit to not having followed it too close.)
New Kerala cites a report out of Defense Today, which says …
Key Quote: “‘Boeing’s proposal includes the development of a unique Indian Navy P-8 configuration, a significant participation for Indian industry, test and certification activities and eight aircraft delivered over a four year period,’ the company has said, according to the report.”
