Blogging at Boeing

BizWeek takes a look http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_21/b3985098.htm?chan=tc&chan=technology_technology+index+page_more+of+todays+top+stories at Boeing’s corporate blogging efforts in a different way: How does blogging work as management tool?

Key Quote: “The company’s two public blogs give Boeing a direct link to the public, something the 91-year-old company has never had before. And executives are starting to use internal blogs to get conversations going and allow employees to raise issues anonymously.”

And speaking of Boeing Blogs, it’s been a while since we checked in with the Blogger-in-Chief, Randy Baseler. http://www.boeing.com/randy/

In his most-recent post (from Wednesday) he defends himself from critics who blasted his previous post comparing the 747-8F to the A380-F.

Key Quote: “The fact is the A380F will still be carrying that extra 74 tonnes of structural weight on every flight — with little or no additional revenue to offset the significantly higher fuel consumption and operating costs associated with that extra weight.”

Last week, Baseler noted that key Boeing customer Southwest Airlines had started its own blog, “Nuts About Southwest.” Here’s a link to that: http://www.blogsouthwest.com/
