Everett Station is another sign of downtown’s changing face

Everett Station is one of the key pieces to revitalizing Everett’s east side near I-5 and improving traffic flow through town.
The multimodal station with an European flair and copper-tiled roof is being built just south of the new Pacific Avenue overpass and is open Jan. 31.

The project is under budget. The contract price was originally $24.7 million. With changes, the price rose to $26.2 million. But there’s still money left in the city’s $2.4 million contingency fund.
The $26 million price tag doesn’t include the cost of buying and clearing a 10-acre piece of land around the station. When those are factored in, the total cost is about $44 million.
The station will be a transportation hub for the north Puget Sound region, serving as the northern terminal for Sound Transit’s commuter rail line, an Amtrak passenger station and a crossroads for rail, bus, taxi and airport shuttles. The station also will include a commuter park-and-ride lot.
The 64,000-square-foot, four-story station will have decorative brick walkways and historic murals.
